The technology employed in the fuel cells designed for motorsport transfers perfectly to the marine market, with one major benefit over all others - durability. AFS fuel cells have practically infinite fatigue life and because the design and construction is - literally - so flexible, reliability and cost-effectiveness become the watchwords.
The current high spec standard for marine fuel tanks is to employ the use of composites but in extreme conditions, this is not foolproof and there have been a number of high profile leaks as a result of stress fractures.
